OMG's "WEEKLY FIX" (4/6/16): Ramblings From A Geek Brain...

WrestleMania 32 continued the event’s recent tradition of having a very “Jekyll/Hyde” outcome, with most of the excitement coming in the first-half of the show; and raw, unadulterated disappointment creeping-in as we get closer to the “main event.” Granted, some of this has to do with the fact that fan expectations are usually way over-the-top when it comes to how storylines should play-out and why their favorite wrestler should be carrying “The Gold.” A few quick takes: (1) Shane O’Mac can “Van Terminator” better now than he ever could; (2) WWE was long-overdue in getting rid of “divas” from what should’ve always been the “WOMEN’S Heavyweight Championship,” and now they need to put the title around Sasha Banks’ waist; (3) I expected a better (and longer) showing from Dean Ambrose & Brock Lesnar; (4) A.J. Styles / Bullet Club are a wealth of wrestling storylines waiting to be tapped; (5) I really wanted/needed Sting to come down & somehow interfere in the Shane McMahon/Undertaker match; (6) WWE should be more respectful to Andre the Giant’s memory and not have celebrities in his memorial battle royal (though I’m glad Baron Corbin won); (7) I still don’t understand the point in having The Rock and John Cena pretty much squash The Wyatts, doing serious damage to their ability to appear anything close to threatening; and (8) now would be the time to begin a slow rollout of what could be an epic heel-turn by Roman Reigns, with a Paul Heyman-like “voice” by his side until Reigns gets a little more comfortable behind the mic.

Here’s the thing about The Walking Dead season finale: Robert Kirkman & crew handled it beautifully! We already knew that at least one death was coming at the hands of Negan & “Lucille” so the surprise factor there was pretty much nil. But not telling us who it was and leaving us guessing for the next few months? A brilliant stroke of genius! Because I’d rather spend the summer speculating over who it was than mourning the loss of a beloved character…and I think the crew of The Walking Dead were also factoring-in that when they made their decision. Hell, I’m much more sadistic: I’d start Season 7 with a time-jump so that if a character doesn’t appear in the first episode or two, so if a character doesn’t appear that doesn’t necessarily mean that he/she was the one who was killed. By around the fourth or fifth episode, I’d do a flashback episode that shows us what happened that night as well as other things that happened during the time-jump. But I’m cruel like that…

OMG's WEEKLY FIX (3/30/16): Our Early Picks From DC Comic's "REBIRTH"

Our Early Picks From DC Comic's...

While it's still too early to tell just how successful (both critically & financially) DC Comic's "REBIRTH" will turn-out to be, I have to say that their announced titles and creative teams...coupled with their decision to cap book costs at $2.99...has gotten them some strong (if cautious) positive reviews across social media. This buys DC some breathing room that they can use to continue the rollout while reminding everyone that "it's not a reboot" (Hmmm...). One note to add: while DC has increased their diversity both on the creative side and on the page with "REBIRTH," there wasn't the across-the-board diversification I was expecting. A start...but still a long way to go.

So which titles have peaked our interest so far? Here's OLD MAN GEEK's rundown so far, subject to change as we get closer to launch...

OMG's "WEEKLY FIX" (3/16/16): Random Thoughts From A Geek Brain...

If you're posting spoiler pics from your phone for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice without a shitload of spoiler warnings, then you're a raging d-bag who should be force-fed their phone. Anally. Sideways.

Enjoying the first seven hours of Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part II and excited to see how the remaining four hours play-out...

Keeping fingers crossed that Sausage Party ushers-in a golden age of adult animation, like Heavy Metal and Fritz the Cat.

So what's going-on with Attack on Titan, Season 2 anyway???
